Worcester Telegram Endorses Haller

City councilors representing Worcesters five districts
bear the brunt of constituent service demands and also must
stay abreast of issues that affect the vitality of the city
as a whole and neighborhoods across the city. The most effective
district councilors are the ones who best balance those sometimes-conflicting
roles.
With that in mind, we recommend these candidates:
In District 4, three-term Councilor Barbara G. Haller has
been a strong advocate for a district that too often has suffered
from official neglect, pressing for action on problem properties
and graffiti, lead paint removal and childrens health.
She has supported residents efforts in recovering
areas and has led efforts to reduce the negative impact of
PIP. She favors a police precinct pilot program for the district
and helped craft a more equitable citywide policy on social
service programs.
These are our recommendations. The key decisions will be
those made by residents who go to the polls Nov. 6.
